Recently we made an on the spot decision to tear the living crap out of our downstairs. We removed the tile since it had buckled and cracked in certain spots from the house setteling and the lack of master craftsmen they employ to build homes in Arizona, or any other southwestern state. Floating Wood Laminate Flooring, that was the answer. it looks good, comes with a nearly forever warranty and wont buckle or crack from the mini shifts in a settleing foundation. with this we figured it would be a good time to paint the walls and not worry about dripping paint onto the concrete floor. this project is like all others, 99% complete. We didn't finish in time for Christmas and since we had a pack of nearly 20 people due to inhabit our home for Christmas, we put everything back together and haven't dug back into it yet.
The thought of selling the house will be the next motivator to complete the many 99% complete projects around the house. Like the bar in teh billiard room, the steps up to the elevated patio, tileing the master bath and others i have probably forgotten about.

This is what the new flooring looks like in the kitchen with the painted walls.
